After the Great Dissolution, a convergence of ecological collapse, global pandemics, and systemic energy failures, many of the technologies of the old world fell out of use, were destroyed, or were deliberately forgotten. What had once been a symbol of progress became a threat. The three human factions —Solarnati, Hydrovelan, and Nanocodax— have developed very different relationships with this technological legacy, shaped by their values, needs, and old wounds.
Some of these technologies occasionally resurface in ruins or sealed capsules. Their discovery usually sparks intense debate within each faction: Should they be destroyed? Studied? Or cautiously recovered?
In the border zones, there are rumors of traders or archaeotechnologists who traffic in forbidden pieces. Sometimes it is even said that the Resonant —the Star Weavers— have delivered strange versions of these technologies, transmuted or incomprehensible.
Forbidden technology does not represent only a material danger. It is a dark mirror that reflects the decisions that brought the world to the brink of the abyss.
