The Hydrovelan have evolved without resorting to radical genetic modifications. Unlike other civilizations, their bodily changes come from generations of natural and cultural adaptation to the aerial environment. In their floating communities, the human body has been refined for lightness, balance, and endurance, without losing its essence. The diversity inherited from ancient migrant peoples is still present, and although certain traits are very predominant, variety is a core part of their identity.
Build and Posture
- Moderate height and light build: Averages between 1.60 m and 1.80 m. Slender bodies with low relative weight, to ease movement on suspended platforms and aboard aircraft.
- Defined muscular tone: Predominance of endurance fibers, ideal for long maneuvers, collaborative work, and synchronized flights.
- Balance and active posture: Graceful, centered movement, with a trained center of gravity to compensate for the sway of the wind.
- Functional skin: Epidermis adapted to humid environments and intermittent sun exposure, with good breathability and natural protection against the wind.

Facial Traits
Skin, Texture and Tone
- Predominant tones: Mostly light skin, in very pale ivory or beige shades that help reflect light. Some have slightly grey or pearlescent undertones, the result of constant mist exposure and life at high altitude.
- Minority tones: A diversity of warm, mixed-heritage tones, inherited from old migration routes and the cultural interweaving of the first century after the collapse.
- Soft texture: Even-textured skin, with exposed areas weathered by air friction and humidity.
Eyes and Gaze
- Variable irises: A color range from light grey to amber and clouded green. Eyes tend to be large, sensitive to changes in light and pressure.
- Adaptive vision: Slow blinking, long eyelashes, and enhanced eye mobility to adjust to atmospheric shifts.
Hair and Cranial Protection
- Functional hair: Generally short, braided or tied back—styles that avoid snagging on harnesses and ropes, often interwoven with bands of light fabric.
- Ear implants: Discreet devices that amplify or filter wind sounds and flotilla communications.
